After two years of virtual conferences because of the pandemic, this will be a great opportunity to re-establish professional connections and personal friendships at an in-person, family-friendly conference.
Williamsburg, Virginia
Colonial Williamsburg is known as the largest living history museum in the world with its restored buildings, historical interpreters and actors, and master artisans. Die-hard history buffs can explore nearby Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in the New World, and Yorktown, where General Cornwallis surrendered to General George Washington in the last land battle of the American Revolution.
Williamsburg is a twenty-minute drive from the Newport News/Williamsburg International airport, which is served by Delta and American Airlines with daily non-stop flights to and from Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Atlanta.
The Richmond International Airport is just 45 miles from Williamsburg. Six air carriers serve the Richmond airport, including Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines.
Agenda
The conference will start on Sunday, July 31, with registration, the Roll Call of States and business meeting (part one) in the afternoon, an educational program, and an evening reception that includes the Morgan Thomas slideshow and an auction for the Education Fund. Proceeds from the auction help pay for the conference speakers and to fund scholarships for members who need financial assistance to attend the conference. We encourage everyone to donate an item to be auctioned off for this worthwhile cause and to bring all that loose change you hoarded during the pandemic to bid on the items.
The conference concludes on Thursday, August 4, with a “What’s Bugging You” session in the morning, the second part of the business meeting, and the Awards Luncheon.
Education
The Program Committee has been hard at work in scheduling some wonderful speakers and great educational programs for the conference. A complete listing of the speakers and educational programs will be provided at a later date.
For states with Continuing Legal Education requirements, the educational programs are a convenient way to satisfy most, if not all, of the credits needed.
On Monday and Wednesday evenings (August 1 and 3), our good friends at Thomson Reuters and LexisNexis, respectively, are sponsoring events (dinner included) at the Jamestown Settlement Museum and the American Revolutionary Museum at Yorktown.
Venue/Hotel & Reservations
The conference will be held at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites, which is located next to the Visitor Center in historic Colonial Williamsburg. The lodging rooms are available at the 2022 federal per diem rate of $118. Amenities include on-site parking, a full service business center, pool, fitness center, pet-friendly rooms, Splash Park & Pool, Fun Zone (with miniature golf, a playground, fire pits, shuffle boards, and more), and access to the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club’s course and driving range.
Reserve your rooms now at the special NCACC rate.
Vendor Show
After a several year hiatus, the vendor show returns on Wednesday with informational booths and showcases from multiple vendors whose wares are of particular interest and relevance to our jobs as appellate court clerks.
Make your plans to bring your family and join your appellate clerk colleagues in Colonial Williamsburg!
